It would've been awkward if she couldn't sing, being that they all voted yes to her little sister.
She actually does look 16…Social media just has a ton of high schoolers frontin' like they're 21 these days
This audition was crafted perfectly. She's not the greatest singer by a long shot. Her runs were farcical. Even Christina Agulara would say "tone it down, girl." Harry Connick Jr would've called her out on that. But I have to give her credit. She understands how these auditions work, and she took full advantage of first time judges.
She brought out the cute little sister. She cranked up her southern accent, and charm to 1000, & picked a motown song that nobody was expecting. She did the duet with her little sister. And by that point, she had already won over the judges before she even sang.
The song Layla sang was just way too big for her. Not ready yet, but definitely has potential.
She has potential a lot and I see why she went through. Hollywood Week is when we will see whos ready and who isnt!
Layla: Me and my sister Dixie are going to perform for you all
Katy: DIXIE! YOUR NAME IS DIXIE?!?
Layla- Yes her name is Dixie and my name is Layla Spring
Lionel- AND Dixi
She was smart to bring in Dyxie. Not only did she charm them, her presence made it harder to say no to her (sister?). Then she throws in "You are SO wise!" to Lionel Richie. Would have been a hard no, but they were talking about Hollywood as a learning experience and I guess "come back again" if/when cut.
That was an amazing amount of talent – far more talented than the large majority of pop stars out there currently. I hope she goes all the way. Reminds of me of a young LeAnn Rimes, who was also crazy talented at her age. GREAT JOB, Layla! Wow
Lionel Richie keeping it real. She has potential. She shouldn’t have gone to Hollywood though. They gave a slot away that could’ve been given to someone who has more experience and technical training.
