In an effort to appear to a younger audience, the NFL is planning to telecast one of its Wild Card Playoff Games on Nickeldeon this postseason.
In what’s being called a “one-of-a-kind kid-focused content and Nick-themed elements throughout,” the broadcast will feature special Nickelodeon-themed graphics as well an appearance from SpongeBob SquarePants, who will join Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller and CBS broadcasters Tony Romo and Jim Nantz in the booth.
“The NFL is very intent on reaching a younger audience, and we thought this would be a great way to do it,” CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus told The Athletic.
“When we went in to give our pitch to the NFL, this was front and center in that pitch. They loved it right at the outset. I don’t know how big a factor it was in us being successful in acquiring the wild-card game, but I think it certainly played a part. We were able to prove to them in a very real and tangible way that we could implement this. It was a fun pitch to make.”

In 1994, when the NFL on Fox debuted, they almost had Bart Simpson doing play-by-play along with Pat Summerall and John Madden, since Fox had programming geared toward young audiences
i dont see why people don’t like romo. although I’ve never heard anyone ever say they like any single sports broadcaster In history lol all I ever hear is “insert name” is terrible and biased vs “insert their team”. I think fans just like to complain lol
oh boy, an annoying voice to listen to football with. If you’re gonna do that, just bring back Siragusa and Dennis Miller
