The Atlanta Falcons got screwed.
The Tampa Bay Bucs had just fell short of a first down with seconds to play in the 4th quarter, but then the chain gang came out and somehow gifted the Bucs with a first down
Bucs stopped half a yard short of a first down. The refs give them the first down. Tell me this game isn’t rigged. @NFL pic.twitter.com/kSs2hqAvAj

this measurement resulted in a 1st down 😂😂
it was reviewed…and confirmed a 1st down pic.twitter.com/xya4eoUQwD— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) December 20, 2020
Not that it would have mattered, but the @NFL refs helping the Bucs get a phantom first down is something… pic.twitter.com/HJzImcYb5d

It ended the game as the Falcons would not get one last chance to drive down the field.

As a Falcons fan, I literally have no strong emotions towards that happening. We’ve screwed ourselves for years now, I’m not shocked by anything anymore.

But then they run a QB sneak and even if they don’t get a first down, the clock has run out. I hate controversial calls as much as the next person, but this was a humane way to put the Falcons out of their misery one play earlier. The game was over and the call didn’t change anything…

As a Bucs fan, yeah the spot was bad. But regardless the article is misleading by saying it took away the Falcons attempt to drive down the field…it was a 3rd down run, proper spot should be around the Falcons 9.5 yard line. Bucs can do whatever they want on 4th; if it resulted in the Falcons getting the ball back they would have ~20 seconds with no timeouts to drive the field and a TD would be necessary either way. Not happening.
