Courtney – Singer – Thirteen year old has stage fright. She’s got an accent? Scottish maybe. Mel B tells her not to be nervous. When she finally opens her voice to sing it’s like she’s obsessed, singing “Hard to Handle.” This is actually pretty terrible. Her enunciation is terrible and the Mick Jagger impersonation she’s got going verges on a joke act. If she were an adult she would have been buzzed. Simon calls her “incredible” and like a lion. Howie says she’s from a “whole different era.” He compares her to Janis Joplin. Good lord. Howie hits his Golden buzzer. Hmmm. Dubious. The confetti flies. Father and daughter hug.

She shared on her facebook page:

"I didn't know what to expect when I auditioned for America's Got Talent but the golden buzzer was more than I ever could have dreamed of. Thank you so much Howie Mandel I am so happy and can't thank you enough"

13-year-old singer – She was Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer. – Courtney has had more than 200 million views of her audition online. Courtney says she’s “quite shy.” She is inspired by Janis Joplin, who was always herself. UNPOPULAR OPINION AHEAD.  Her singing sounds like a lot of screeching and screaming to me. She lurches around the stage. And I just don’t get it. She’s singing “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” and her take is uhm interesting. I’ll say this again. It’s her age and demeanor off stage that sells this. If she were an adult with that act, Simon probably would have buzzed her. “I have not been this excited about a new artist in a long time,” says Heidi. “We get you,” says Mel B. Well that’s good. Because I don’t. Simon has NO advice for Courtney. Just keep doing what you’re doing he says.

Sherrie Romine Honestly, before Howie said anything, I asked my husband if he'd ever seen Janis Joplin sing. He said no. I said, I'd swear Janis was channeling through this young lady. She is absolutely phenomenal

Jann Sloper Janis Joplin reborn…but most people will not understand that era….Woodstock….Country music isn’t the only music….

Nick Weber Ok I cant be the only one thinking that was average for a high school talent show. Golden buzzer???

Kathleen Boatright She was AMAZING! Lets get some rock on this show. Steven tyler, mick jagger, and janis joplin meets….2018! Excited about this one.

Lisa Zeitlinger Janis was called weird , awkward & different in the most wonderful way possible! She lacked confidence in herself. So is Courtney. She sang it from her soul. That is missing from so much of the music today. Most definitely buzzer worthy. I’ve watched every act since Season 1. Just my humble opinion.

Marina Zanelli Love you Howie for this most perfect golden buzzer pick. Haters don't know talent. And those mean spirited negative comments are shameful. But I guess the entire audience and 4 judge standing ovations don't prove anything right. She won't need your votes. She is special, got soul and clearly the voice. This girl is the real deal. Watch her fly!
