‘The Voice’ Sneak Peek: Nick Jonas Brings a New Coaching Strategy to Season 18 (Exclusive)

Nick Jonas is the new guy on the block on The Voice — and he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve!

The 27-year-old Jonas Brother is joining Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson in the rotating coaches’ chairs for the upcoming round of NBC’s singing competition show, and in ET’s exclusive sneak peek at season 18, he reveals his strategy for persuading hopeful talents to join his team. (It seems to work, the clip shows him winning a four-chair turn!)

“All of the coaches have their pitch tactics locked in,” Jonas notes. “What seems to be working for me is talking to the artist as a teammate and not as a coach… I’m saying, let’s work on this together.”

The “Sucker” singer explains that the strategy is one he learned from years of performing with brothers Joe and Kevin. “We don’t view each other as coaches or any kind of alpha situation,” he says to a potential team member. Check out the preview clip below for more!

Jonas’ strategy seems to have put his rival coaches on notice. “I don’t know what he’s gonna be like as a coach, but he’s catching on super quickly,” Shelton notes in the sneak peek.

“I think Nick is very good at pitching himself. He’s got a lot of experience as a solo artist, on Broadway, and of course with the Jonas Brothers,” Legend agrees. “I think he’s going to be a formidable foe.”

“I knew coming into this season that it was going to be hard, going up against Nick,” Clarkson adds. “He don’t need any help, and I ain’t helping him!”

Of course, the addition of Jonas means that Gwen Stefani won’t be back as a coach in the upcoming season, something Shelton was more than ready to retaliate for when ET caught up with him at the 2019 CMA Awards in November.

“He’s going down!” the country star joked. “He replaced my girlfriend and that’s unacceptable…We’re gonna settle this on the stage, coach to coach.”

The Voice returns for season 18 on Monday, Feb. 24 at 8pm PT/ET on NBC. See more from the upcoming season in the video below!

Chris Pratt Reveals the Thing He Does That Most Annoys His Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger

Chris Pratt is getting real about how he annoys his wife. The 40-year-old actor stops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday and, during a game of Burning Questions, reveals the one thing he does that his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, can’t stand.

“I leave napkins folded all over the house. Like, I’ll use a napkin and instead of taking the time and effort to go throw it away, I’ll just fold it up and set it down as if, ‘Well, that’s folded, so that belongs there,'” he admits. “So there’s just a little trail of napkins.”

Throughout the game, Pratt also praises Schwarzenegger, revealing that the most surprising thing about his wife is “her ability to just fill in my many deficits.”

“I’ve got a lot, too, so that’s why it’s so surprising,” he quips.

During Pratt’s interview on the show, he recalled his June 2019 honeymoon with Schwarzenegger, when their tropical getaway was impeded by a serious sunburn.

“Over the last five years I’ve been doing all of these movies and in those movies I look so tan. But I forget that it’s sprayed on!” he explains. “And I thought, ‘I’m gonna give myself a little color.'”

Pratt shared a pic of the burn on Instagram, quipping on the show that the end result “took no more than nine minutes.”

“We were in a tropical location and I just remember Katherine saying, ‘You have to put on sunscreen.’ And I said, ‘No, I want to get a little base going and then we’ll throw some SPF on,'” he recalls. “I laid out and I was like, ‘Is someone cooking Norwegian bacon?’ It  happened so fast! I forgot how translucent my skin is.”

Pratt admits that the burn did impact their romantic getaway. “It was shirts-on swimming for the rest of the week. So sexy. Everything shirt on. Every activity that happens on a honeymoon, shirt on,” he jokes.

ET recently caught up with Pratt, who shared that he and Schwarzenegger celebrated Valentine’s Day a week early this year with something “very, very special.” Watch the video below for more on how they marked the holiday.

Selena Quintanilla Tribute Concert to Feature Performances from Pitbull, Becky G and More

Some of the biggest names in Latin music are coming together to honor the memory of Selena Quintanilla.

The late singer’s family and their company, Q Productions, announced on Tuesday that a star-studded lineup will celebrate the Mexican-American performer with a tribute concert, “Selena XXV-Veinticinco Años,” at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on May 9.

Artists who will perform in honor of Selena — who died on March 31, 1995 — include Pitbull, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, A.B. Quintanilla III & Los Kumbia Allstarz, Becky G, Elida & Avante, Ruben Ramos, Pete Astudillo, Gilbert Velasquez, Ricardo Castillón, Ally Brooke, Isabel Marie and The Lab. The event is set to conclude with a laser tribute show presented by H-E-B.

“We are excited to bring this ultimate fan experience to honor and celebrate my sister, Selena,” said Suzette Quintanilla, CEO/president of Q Productions in an official statement, via Billboard. “Over the past 25 years, her influence and relevance have only grown throughout generations. Through our father, Abraham Quintanilla, we were taught to persevere in the face of adversity and to work hard to accomplish our dreams. Those core values, along with her amazing talent and ability to connect with people has helped sustain Selena’s legacy and it is what makes her an impactful and an important role model 25 years later.”

Known as the “Queen of Tejano,” Selena rocketed to fame in the ’90s as one of the first major female stars of the male-dominated genre, which she helped popularize on the Latin charts and the GRAMMY stage. Along with her brother, A.B. Quintanilla, who helped produce most of her music, she was known for hits like “Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “No Me Queda Más” as well as her posthumous crossover English hits like “Dreaming of You” and “I Could Fall in Love.”

Countless artists have paid tribute to Selena and her influence throughout the years — including Jennifer Lopez, who portrayed the singer in the iconic 1997 biopic Selena and honored the late icon during a Texas tour stop last summer.

ET was on the set of Selena back in 1996, when Lopez opened up about the opportunity to play the legend.

“Selena was such a great role model and she broke so many barriers. She did so much great stuff for the Latino community, and gave all these little girls somebody to look up to,” she said at the time. “The movie, in that sense, can help in the same way, breaking down barriers in Hollywood [because] we’ve had so many problems getting good roles. For me it’s such a blessing. It’s an honor to be able to do this.”

A post shared by Jessica Simpson (@jessicasimpson) on Feb 19, 2020 at 12:01am PST

This post comes just weeks after the release of Jessica’s new tell-all memoir, Open Book. In the book, Jessica opens up about her complicated relationship with her father and how he affected her two weddings.

After noting that Joe brought a young male model to her 2014 wedding to Eric Johnson, Jessica wrote, “I reminded myself that I needed to accept my father for who he was as he worked it out in real-time… I wasn’t sure how to handle my father now, so I worked with the information he was ready to give me. Maybe I wasn’t ready to listen, I don’t know.”

She added that her father also put a damper on her 2002 wedding to Nick Lachey, calling him a “rain cloud” and claiming he asked her if she was “sure” she wanted to marry Lachey as she was getting ready to walk down the aisle.

Jessica later claimed that her father announced he was leaving her mother as she was in the hospital waiting to welcome her first child, Maxwell.

“My father’s timing added a layer of terrible sadness to what had been a joyous time,” she wrote. “For a long time, I harbored a lot of resentment about the way he told me the family I knew was over.”

Jessica’s new music is mostly inspired by their complicated relationship, and the singer has let her father listen to the new songs.

“He didn’t mean to hurt all of us so badly, but I knew for a fact that he had realized his decision would have consequences. I know he knew that because that’s what he had taught me. But I had kept that from him,” she noted. “And now I needed him to hear that I was singing about him.”
