America's Got Talent 2019 Semifinalists

America’s Got Talent 2019 finale results: Tonight is the night. Which act will win the America’s Got Talent 1 million dollar prize and headlining Vegas show? Will it be teen singer Benicio Bryant; Detroit Youth Choir; kid opera singer Emanne Beasha; singer and musician Kodi Lee; dance and light performers Light Balance Kids; Ndlovu Youth Choir; comedian Ryan Niemiller; kid violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa; dance/acrobatic act V. Unbeatable or vocal quartet Voices of Service?

KODI LEE WINS America’s Got Talent!

Do not miss out on Kodi`s merchandise

Get yours: HERE

Well, THAT was a rousing opening! I’m fully awake now. Oh dang. This recap from last night might put me back to sleep.  Next, and FINALLY, the judges,Howie MandelGabrielle UnionJulianne Hough and Simon Cowell are introduced. Simon says he has no idea who will win tonight. They guy was spacing out until Terry called him twice. He probably needs a smoke break.

ONE LAST DUNKIN’ LOUNGE. The show is going to be filled with a ton of filler, isn’t it…

Lang Lang tas the stage to play some hokey piano. Next, kid opera singer Emmane Beasha joins him on stage for a song, that will appear on his new album

Next, it’s Ryan Niemiller. He shares that he wanted to be a pro-wrestler once upon a time. He could be a bad-**s! So his handle “Cripple Threat” is his wrestling name! Chris Jericho is his favorite wrestler. He drops by to teach Ryan a few moves.  Oh dear. Ryan is too nice for trash talk. Ha. Chris teaches him to yell at Simon, who does not even know what Ramen noodles are. Well, that was fun. “You never turn your back on the cripple threat!”
Howie introduces a video clip that’s all about host Terry Crews. What a wacky guy!

Next Benicio Bryan takes the stage with his “hero” Latin urban singer and songwriter Ozuna. Benicio got a haircut! It’s a little jarring! So is this musical style for Benicio. But it actually suits him! Benicio didn’t sing any upbeat songs for the competition. This is a welcome change up.

The next video package stars Simon and Cher. What a pair. This is very odd. The two discull “random thoughts”…on things. Cell phones, video games and more. Simon likes pong.

Now, it’s Julianne Hough performing her new single. V. Unbeatable join her on stage.  She sings. They toss…Julianne! Right through the air. Don’t like the song? There’s a distraction! Heh.  Hm. This is a pop song. Wasn’t she a country singer last time?

Lilly Singh, the Youtube star who hosts the new late late late night show on NBC. She picks the five worst acts: The monkey in a tutu, Death, Yurian Retriever (OF COURSE), Brandon Coprich (the naked flute player) Sethward is her favorit

Next it’s an “exclusive” AGT mashup. Light Balance Kids, Tyler Butler-Figueroa and last year’s finalist Brian Joseph King join forces. A trio of names. Heh. Tyler and Brian perform a “Favorite Things” and then Light Balance Kids take the stage to dance to “Treasure” by Bruno Mars. Just as I am thinking “where’s the mashup?” SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE.  The “kids” pull off their masks and IT’S PAULA ABDUL! Dancing with the kids! PAULER PAULER PAULER!

RESULTS: Here we go! The Top 10 are center stage. In no particular order, who made it into the Top 5. Benicio Bryant and Voices of Service are center stage.  The first act taking a spot in the Top 5 is…Voices of Service!Benicio isn’t in the Top 5. My predictions are already done. Emmane Beasha and Ryan Niemiller step forward. The act taking the second spot in the Top 5 is…Ryan NiemillerV. Unbeatable are next, with Ndlovu Youth Choir. The act taking the third spot in the Top 5 is V. UnbeatableNdlovu Youth Choir is eliminated. Kodi Lee and Light Balance Kids are next. The act taking the fourth spot in the Top 5 is Kodi LeeLight Balance Kids are eliminated. Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Detroit Youth Choir step forward. The act taking the last spot in the Top 5 is…Detroit Youth Choir!!!

Next, we find out who came in fifth. America has voted. The act finishing in fifth place and leaving the competition is…Voices of Service. The act leaving in fourth place and leaving the competition is…V. Unbeatable. WHAT? The crowd is BOOOOING! Julianne calls it shocking. Maybe it’s tough for a foreign act to win. Finishing in 3rd place is….Ryan Niemiller. Gabrielle wants to know when he is available. “You are my next star!” OK. This is shocking. Detroit Youth Choir in the Top 2? REALLY REALLY REALLY?

Time to reveal the winner! But first, video packages featuring the Top 2.America has voted. The winner is…KODI LEE. Of course.

KODI LEE WINS America’s Got Talent!

Top 5

5. Voices of Service
4. V. Unbeatable
3. Ryan Niemiller
2. Detroit Youth Choir
1. Kodi Lee – WINNER

Eliminated

  • Benicio Bryant
  • Emmane Beasha
  • Ndlovu Youth Choir
  • Light Balance Kids
  • Tyler Butler-Figueroa

Kodi Lee – Blind/autistic singer/pianist – Gabrielle Union’s Golden Buzzer – Kodi insists auditioning for AGT was his idea. He hears music in his head. He speaks to the people he loves through his music because it’s difficult to express himself otherwise. “My family is always there for me,” he says.

“My dreams are coming true.” It takes him a few seconds to begin his cover of  ” “. The song is in his vocal range. Sometimes Kodi strains on the high notes. It’s a pretty and simple performance. When he does deliver a high note, it’s clean. Hm. That may have won him the show. The audience is chanting for him! She says, “Kodi has changed the world,” she says. Howie thinks Kodi will “walk out of here with a million.” Julianne thanks him for creating beautiful moments. “That was as good as I’ve ever heard,” says Simon.

Ndlovu Youth Choir  – Youth choir hales from South Africa – For the group’s last performance, they cover Toto’s “Africa.” Which is interesting. Ever read those lyrics? The song is a look at the country from a blinkered white guy’s point of view. Heh. But why not give the song some authenticity? It’s a good thing. This group continues to deliver great vocal performances with verve and energy. I’m glad they got the pimp spot. Simon says they ended the “best finale I have ever sat on.” He also calls it their best performance. “If you can dream it you can dream it,” says Julianne. Gabrielle calls them the pride of America and Africa. Howie shouts “What a finale, vote!” after comparing the choir leader to Neil Patrick Harris.

Benicio Bryant – Teen singer competed on The Voice Kids Germany recently – He was one year old when America’s Got Talent premiered. He’s been watching it every year and has dreamed of winning it. He turned 15 this week. His voice sounds tired this week–a little strained. I wonder if he’s sick. At this point of the competition, he needs a dramatic moment, which this song does not provide. Julianne calls him a star, able to hold the stage without bells and whistles. She thinks he can win. Simon respects how he presented an original song without gimmicks. Howie also thinks Benicio can win. Simon hits his button for some weird reason.

Tyler Butler-Figueroa  – Young violinist battled Leukemia – Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer – Tyler tears up as he watches good luck messages from fellow cancer survivors. He performs Destiny Child’s “I’m a Survivor. He’s had better performances, I think. Or maybe at this point, there is nowhere to take this act and I’m a little bored. It’s nice that he inspires other kids, though. Simon is bursting with pride. Beyonce personally cleared the song for Tyler, Simon reveals. “You’ve got a shot here,” he says. Howie is also proud, and inspired. Gabrielle believes he saved the best for last.

Light Balance Kids  – One of the members got sick before their audition. He went to the hospital, but even practiced there. They don’t give up! The kiddos funk it up this week with a fast food theme. Ha A pizza box comes to life and chases the kids around the stage and bites them. Now, they’ve turned into dancing fries and hamburgers. Cute.

The french fry shoots fireworks. Entertaining, clear story from the group this week. Julianne calls it creative and innovative. Gabrielle admires their commitment and focus. Simon felt they pulled out their best performance when it mattered. “Fun, cool and relevant,” he says. Howie calls it an immersive, fun Vegas act. “The entire act was gluten free!” How about those hamburger buns, though.

Voices of Service  – Singing quartet made up of active duty/vets – They read letters from struggling vets, relatives of vets who struggled who found some peace in their performances. It’s very moving. The group sings a religious hymn. I like them better singing pop songs. It’s that “footprints in the sand” song, and it’s sappy. But there is no denying their incredible voices and beautiful harmonies. Howie says they are changing lives, “It’s so important and powerful.” Howie asks America to vote. Gabrielle calls them “instruments of feeling.” Julianne says the group brings people hope and joy. Simon thinks they’ve had two incredible weeks. He thinks they have a chance to win. Hm. Probably not.

Ryan Niemiller – Birth defect left this comedian without hands – He and his family grew up in a trailer. Winning  1 million would mean a lot to them. “I hear the camera adds 10 fingers,” he says. Heh. Oh gosh. These jokes are funny tonight. “I got tennis elbow from fist bumping so much.” Folks avoid shaking his hand.  This is such a painful story, yet I’m laughing. It’s because he tells a his true story without any self-pity.”If you don’t vote for me tonight, it’s technically a hate crime.” Seriously, his funniest yet. Simon thinks he could star in a movie or TV show. He pleads his case with casting folks! Howie says he has an amazing heart, “I want you to be a star, you are a star.” Gabrielle offers to cast him in one of HER movies. Julianne calls it an honor to watch him. I hope he at least makes to Top 5.

Emanne Beasha  – Young opera singer – Emmane turns 11 years old TOMORROW. What a way to spend her special day! The combination of performing third and needing the judges to save her last week means she has no chance of winning this thing or even coming close.

It’s another nice performance from a young, undeveloped singer. Maybe someday, after years of training, she’ll be a great opera singer. Julianne calls it “otherworldly” and calls her a perfect angel. The judges are bathed in smoke! Ha. Simon compares her to an Olympic star and calls her talent incredible. Howie notes that she’s a BTS fan. We needed that info. Or not. Gabrielle calls her blessing and an angel.

I hope he at least makes to Top 5.

Detroit Youth Choir – Choir made up of underprivileged kids – Terry Crews Golden Buzzer – Tonight, they sing “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Tonight they group has added rapping to up the ante. Don’t think it’s a good idea for rapping to take the place of lead singers though.

The background singing is better than all the leads. Again, the group is a high caliber school choir, but they don’t belong on AGT. Well, they got a death spot. It’s hard to imagine them making the Top 5. The crowd is going nuts. Gabrielle has to shout her thoughts. “You guys shine so bright on that stage.” The kids are crying.

Gabrielle loves that they all had specific moments. Simon doesn’t see a choir, but a group of individuals who have worked hard. “You have meant so much to us…this is going to be such a touch competition tonight,” he says. “I feel like I’m attending the Simon Cowell day care center,” says Howie. That wasn’t meant as a diss.

America’s Got Talent 2019 Finals V. Unbeatable  – Dance/Tumblers from India – The group tells the story of losing their founder to a terrible accident while rehearsing. The V. in their name is a tribute to him, Vikas. They say they never perform without his name on their back. Whoo. Now the boys are jumping off of balconies! DON’T DIE GUYS. The set

is made up of a series of blocks, The routine is full of intricate tumbling and crazy dance moves.

The last move has a young one literally thrown off the highest block. IT’S CRAZY. Covered in streamers, the judges are on their feet. Howie calls them dangerous and exciting. He says “V for Victory!” Gabrielle calls it “Unfeaking believable. You guys killed that performance.” Julianne says they are everything a dance crew needs to be.” Simon calls it a “golden buzzer” performance. He calls them “game changers.”

Light Balance Kids  – Light and Dance group from Ukraine – One of the members got sick before their audition. He went to the hospital, but even practiced there. They don’t give up! The kiddos funk it up this week with a fast food theme. Ha A pizza box comes to life and chases the kids around the stage and bites them. Now, they’ve turned into dancing fries and hamburgers. SIX contestants will be eliminated. FIVE will advance to the finals. The fourth, fifth and sixth place acts will vie for the fan voted “Dunkin Save.” In addition, the judges panel will also save a contestant.

Time to announce the 3 acts in danger. Alex Dowis, Emmane Beasha and Ryan Niemiller. WHAT RYAN NIEMILLER ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  Howie says his jaw is on his desk, He doesn’t name names, but I’m sure he’s talking about Emmane and Ryan when he says he pegged TWO of the bottom for the finals, perhaps even the win.

Dunkin has been running a design cup contest. The winner is here, so are the new cups.

V. Unbeatable, Chris Clafford and Dom Chambers take the stage. America has voted. The first act going through to the finals is….V. Unbeatable! Dom Chambers and Chris Klafford are ELIMINATED.

Voices of Service Might Make You Cry With "Choke" by OneRepublic – America's Got Talent 2019

Voices of Service – Singing quartet made up of active duty/vets – These vocalists are incredible, singularly and together. The female voice is phenomenal. The song they perform tonight, “Choke” by OneRepublic, about loss and remembrance is the fitting tribute to 911 we needed tonight, to be honest. As veterans, they’ve lived through wars and have dealt with PTSD. They are the real deal. THAT moved me. Simon calls it the best performance of the series. Julianne notes the dynamics of their vocals. “You put your purpose behind your passion,” she says. Queen thinks about her Vietnam vet dad. “I hope to see you in the finals….you are saving and changing lives.”

Ryan Niemiller  – Birth defect left this comedian without hands – This dude is really funny. But also relatable and likable. He’s truly able to laugh at himself. It’s disarming! See what I did there. Heh. Tonight he’s telling some pretty funny travel jokes. He’s delivering a really hot routine tonight. He’s on fire! He’s a lock for the finals. As well he should be. Howie calls him a very funny talented comedian who deserves to be in the finals. Gabrielle can’t wait until his comedy special. Queen is still laughing. She’s waiting for the movie. Simon feels like he’s taking the audience along on his ride to the final. “You’ve got a shot at winning,” he says.

Emanne Beasha – Fun fact. Her family is from Jordan. She previously won Arabs Got Talent. But they won’t tell you that. She’s got a Jay Leno unicorn with her, in honor of her golden buzzer patron. I don’t have much more to say about Emanne than I already have. Great Opera singing takes years of training. Not a thing meant for kiddies.

She’s singing an Italian opera version of a Bryan Adams power ballad. Eh. Julianne calls it “profound” She’s about to cry. Geez. Really? Simon calls her vocals “unbelievable, powerhouse.” and calls her “absolutely brilliant.” Gabrielle calls her an “angel on earth.” Queen calls her “unbelievable.” She appreciates her confidence.

Marcin Patrzalek  – Teen guitarist – Nearly being eliminated last week lit a fire underneath Marcin. He’s an extremely talented guitarist, but it’s not the kind of thing folks connect to. Instrumentals bring no narrative. Technical brilliance isn’t enough on these shows, unfortunately. Marcin performs beautifully once again. He’s been consistent across the weeks. But can he beat a pandering 911 tribute? Probably not, unfortunately. The judges are on their feet! Julianne can see what the future holds for him. “Way to come back!” she says. Gabrielle says “You killed it up there.” Simon calls this performance “a sheep turning into a wolf….this by a mile was your best performance so far.” Gabrielle calls it “tight.” She loves the playing’s percussive elements. Howie hopes America votes him into the finals. So do I!

Alex Dowis  – Light Projection Artist – This time, Alex draws a 911 situation? Firemen appear? There’s a death, then CPR. A trip to heaven? Oh. This is a 911 tribute. Hm. One day before the 18th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history. This was way too maudlin for my tastes. Also, he used a horrible tragedy to pander for votes. Nope. Nope. Nope. Howie didn’t follow every moment of it. I agree with him. It took me a minute to even figure out what was going on. Gabrielle says “There’s a place here for you.” Queen says, “You take people on a journey.” What you did was remarkable,” says Simon.

Detroit Youth Choir  – Choir – Terry’s Golden Buzzer –  The video package has the choir director watching a clip of the kids thanking him. TEARS. Ndlovu Youth Choir is already in the finals. Will Detroit Youth Choir make it? They sing “High Hopes.” It’s nice. I like what this choir represents. Working with underprivileged youth is noble and worthy of being highlighted, but as singers, these kids are high school level good, but not more. Queen says, “That’s entertainment.” She compliments the director. Gabrielle started off crying and never stopped! “You took us to praise and worship, you took us to a step show!” she gushes. Simon calls it “as good as your first audition.” He adds, ‘We all need a Mr. White in our lives.” He’s still crying from watching the video. “They work so hard,” he says.

Chris Kläfford  – Singer who won Swedish Idol – Simon didn’t like his last original song. But winning the Dunkin Save gives him courage. He’s going to do it again. Hm…this is an OK song. It sounds dated–like a song that would chart in the aughts? This song gives him few opportunities to show off his sturdy range. His vocal falters at one point. Only Julianne stands. Howie loves him but…he doesn’t love his strategy. He notes that only “Imagine” got the Youtube views. Julianne calls it amazing. ‘I love it!” Gabrielle agrees with Julianne. She loves his originals. Queen is already at the concert! She’s hearing the song produced. She admires his guts. Simon thinks he should have repeated his Judge Cuts song. Hm. That song wasn’t better than last time. Chris barely made it out of the Quarterfinals. I doubt he makes it to the finals.

Lukas & Falco Delivers Some Of The CUTEST And AMAZING Dog Tricks On AGT

Lukas & Falco – Dog act – WILDCARD – Lukas is texting…with his dog. Oh, the dog is being wined and dined by Hollywood suits. All he has to do is lose the human! This video package is cute. Of course, Falco comes back. Luke loves old school rock. This time, its an auto theme. Ooh. Lukas was trying to coax Falco to do something that he didn’t do? The dog is SOOO CUTE. But not only is this routine a rehash, but there are several mistakes in the routine.  The act is a hot mess tonight. When Falco jumps up on the judges table, he steps on Howie’s buzzer.  Howie loves the dog, but he wasn’t impressed. Simon is such a dog lover, he can’t accept the acts suckitude.  Simon insists that he LOVES Falco even more, despite the mistakes. Because of the mistakes! Spoken like a true stan. Gabrielle agrees. He kept trying! Queen wants to party with Falco. Eh. There’s no way they deserve to advance.

Kid Phenomenon Luke Islam Slays "Never Enough" From The Greatest Showman

Luke Islam – Julianne’s Golden Buzzer – Of course, the key to touching Simon’s heart is to sing a song from his favorite movie, “The Greatest Showman.” He sings a dramatic version of “Never Enough.” But is it enough? He’s a few years away from being great. There are intonation problems and he’s not quite mature enough to grasp the song’s meaning. He’s still imitative. The judges are on their feet, though. Julianne feels like a “proud mama.” She says he’s a voice for all those people who have “never been enough.” She can’t wait to see him in the finals. Gabrielle calls him a world class talent. Howie is sure he’ll make it to Broadway. Queen compliments him for “being in that moment.” Hm. Simon gets no words.

Dom Chambers Performs New Magic That NO MAGICIAN Has EVER Done Before!

Dom Chambers  – He is sure that he’s come up with a thing no magician has done before. The beer is back. He’s going to make them disappear this time. He works his way up from small glasses to bottles to MEGA BEER. It’s a giant glass full of the stuff. Terry comes on stage to help. Or not! He just came out on stage to help prove a giant beer is really involved. Before he makes mega beer disappear, Simon guesses a number that magically appears on a white board. Then, Dom slurps the entire beer….eh. I’m not impressed. The act had a few comedic moments, but I’m not blown away. Simon says he brought personality, scale and fun. “This may have put you through to the final. Howie agrees. Julianne loves his interactive story skills, “Thank you for including us.” Queen want to know about his brewski diet. He should have a gut, she says. Gabrielle says he brought it back to what made folks fall in love in the first place.

Indian Dance Crew V.Unbeatable Does DANGEROUS And UNBELIEVABLE Flips

V. Unbeatable  – Dance/Tumblers from India – The group leader formed a dance group, despite the kids coming from poverty. They taught themselves to dance from Youtube videos, or so they say. This week, the group uses a ladder. And yes it’s scary. The kids climb up to the top and tumble off. AND THE LADDER MOVES AND SWINGS. The kids are stepping it up this week. It’s definitely the most dangerous routine they have performed on the show. Simon will like that! Yup. Thumbs up from him! “Very unbeatable! You guys are in it to win it,” he says. “I think your country are going to be so proud…I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing you..next week.” Queen is blown away. She calls it “on point.”  Julianne assures them, “Dance is for everyone!” She wants to learn from them.

We reveal the last round of contestants performing in the SEMIFINALS! Who will move on to the AGT finals

More Results: Messoudi Brothers, Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Jackie Fabulous are left on stage. These eliminations hold no suspense! Jackie already looks close to tears. America has voted. The next act going into the finals is…Tyler Butler-Figueroa.

Dunkin Save Results: America SAVES Light Balance Kids!  The Judges Save is next, after the break.

LUKAS & FALCO ARE RETURNING AS WILDCARDS

Finally time for the judges vote!

Gabrielle – Ndlovu Youth Choir
Julianne – Ndlovu Youth Choir
Howie – Robert Finley
Simon – Ndlovu Youth Choir

Kodi Lee  – Blind/autistic singer/pianist – Gabrielle’s Golden Buzzer – Kodi’s family talk about growing up with an autistic brother. He didn’t like being touched, or express love. But the piano changed everything. He plays in the famed Capitol studios with his family all around. Tonight he performs Calum Scott’s “You are the Reason.” He delivers a good performance this week. His intonation is better than last time. Probably his best performance so far. Gabrielle says, ‘You just keep changing the world…you make the world a thousand percent better.” Simon compliments his special talent. “My breath was taken away.” Sean had tears in his eyes. He calls Kodi a gift. Howie calls him “magic.”

Teen singer competed on The Voice Kids Germany recently – The 14 year old singer performs another original. He’s been thinking about being a star since he was 10 years old. Benicio needs to work on his enunciation.

Still, he’s the best kid singer in the competition right now. He might have been better off with a cover this week. The song is lackluster. Simon calls it “outstanding” nevertheless. He also calls him relevant. He’s sure he’ll make the final. Julianne agrees she loved the song’s lyrics. Sean is obsessed with him and his talent, and feels he can call him “Benny.” Gabrielle calls him a star. Howie criticized him for singing an original song last week. But he’s changed his mind and proceeds to slather him with compliments, comparing him to Harry Styles and Troye Sivan.

Eric Chien  – Close up magician – The last time, Simon advised Eric to go bigger. Julianne thought he shouldn’t change a thing. What will he do? Close up magic is his THING. But if he works in Vegas, he’ll need to switch it up. Yes, he actually ruminates on this in his video package. He starts off at a table with cards and a map. Eric is taking us on a virtual trip around the world. Is this his idea o going big? I guess so! Julianne is a little confused. That’s not good. Simon was waiting for something “ginormous” didn’t “have a bloody clue” what was going on. Howie calls him a great close up magician. Gabrielle was also confused, but wants him to advance anyway. It wasn’t the least bit confusing. He turned cards into little statues on a map. You could argue that it wasn’t exciting or a step up. But confusing? He did look really nervous on stage. Was that me, or was his hand shaking at times? He’s probably toast, unfortunately.

Light Balance Kids @lbkidsofficial – Light and Dance group from Ukraine – These Ukranian kids went to the beach for the first time! Sadly, the war in their country keeps people from following their dreams. Oh…this comic book vibe is fun to watch. The kiddos are flying superheroes that can stop anything. That was very good storytelling. Simon apologizes for dissing them last time. He loves their hard work and imagination. The act this week was definitely a step up.  Howie can see them in Vegas. Gabrielle says they set the stage on fire. Sean loves the choregraphy and technology. Julianne feels they’ve been better in the past. She didn’t like that the stepped into the Marvel universe. “You are your own brand” she says.

Robert Finley – Blind R&B singer, also a Vietnam vet – His dad believed the blues was “the devils music” which influenced his decision to put music behind after he returned from Vietnam. Tonight, he’ll be playing the guitar. He’s digging into some old school blues this time, singing “age don’t mean a thing.” Oh man. This is about convincing a younger woman to give him a chance. OK then. His performances are consistent week to week. But maybe he’s wearing a bit thin? Sean calls him hip and cool and belongs in a Tarantino movie. Simon calls him cool and classy. He thought the band was too much, though. Hm. I don’t know if I agree. “It’s not quite the moment I need here.” OK for a minute I thought Simon was going with it. But no. Simon’s done with Robert. Howie says “I know the Jews, but not the blues.”

Jackie Fabulous – Thirty something comedian – Jackie jokes in front of a “jury” how a donut saved her life last week. Remember, she started as a lawyer. Heh. For that reason, she probably will not advance to the finals. This week, she jokes about being a “fat actress” and a little bit in denial about it. Hm. She’s dipping into the B/C material this week. Howie is laughing, though. He calls her “fabulous.” He finds her funny, and more importantly, authentic. Gabrielle says she delivers every time she hits the stage. “You are really hot!” Sean calls her likable and hilarious. Julianne loves her big energy and essence. “You are hot stuff.” Unsurprisingly, Simon is dissing her. He liked her video clip better than the act. He’s done with Jackie, as well. Admittedly, however, she’s been stronger in the past.

Greg Morton  – Impressionist does a zillion pop culture voices – His video package recreates kids on a school bus says “YOU CAN’T SIT WITH US.” Yikes. Cartoons got him through his childhood. He won the kids over by performing for them. So this week, he’ll be doing cartoon impressions. Which is fun. He races through the Hannah Barbera and Warner Brothers Oeuvre. It’s Baby Boomer paradise. THIS is why he’s popular. He brings back childhood memories. He can’t lose, even though he really has never presented a cogent act. Oh. He skips to the 80’s doing Simpsons voices. Then jokes that he can’t do Disney voices “COPYRIGHT.” Heh. He ends with the Nickelodeon era.  He imitates a voice that Howie does. Nice touch. Julianne hopes that animators are watching this. “You can do every single voice.” Oops. Simon wasn’t impressed. He calls it “a mess.” Uh. It’s no different than what he’s been doing, all along actually–just comics this time. Only five can go through this week. Simon is done with Greg.

Messoudi Brothers – Trio of beefy hand balancers – Over under on how fast the brothers rip off their shirts. Heh. C’mon, y’all are waiting for that. Admit it. Last time, Simon asked for more danger. They are going to attempt a trick that previously injured a brother. OH HA HA. They don’t even bother wearing shirts. Smart to cut to the chase. They invite Julianne on stage and make her part of the act. Threesome! Ha. She’s already back in her seat. OK when does this get dangerous? I halfway expect Simon to buzz them. I mean ALL OF IT is dangerous, how they balance on top of each other. Then end with a crazy configuration on top of a hydraulic that hoists them into the air and back again. “THANK YOU” says Julianne. “THAT WAS FANTASTIC.” She thinks they upped the ante. Simon feels they took his advice. I’m surprised he’s satisfied, actually. Gabrielle loves their smiles. “You wowed us.” Howie calls it fantastic. Sean is “absolutely blown away.” He says, “everything is bigger.” I bit of a double entendre there!

Tyler Butler-Figueroa  – Young violinist battled Leukemia – Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer – Tonight, Tyler is performing with fellow cancer survivors. He plays “Break Free” while a bunch of his pals cheer him on off stage. This week, he throws in a few dance moves. It’s a ery energetic performance. He’s not really topping himself here, but that probably doesn’t matter. The audience chants his name! Simon calls his story “unbelievable” but also, he’s a great showman and gutsy. “Joy and talent,” Simon says, “I think that’s going to put you in the final. Gabrielle calls him magical and brilliant. Sean is impressed how he moves and plays at the same time. Julianne felt his performance tonight went above and tonight. “You’re greatest trial has become your greatest triumph.”

Ndlovu Youth Choir  – Youth choir hales from South Africa – They have become rock stars where they are from. Even the president wanted to meet them. Tonight, they sing “Higher Love” with an African beat. The solo singers are very good. Really, they are the best choir to ever compete on AGT, in my opinion. They are so well put together and professional. Better than the Detroit Youth Choir, who sailed into the semifinals easily. However, Ndlovu had to be saved last time–they are fighting an uphill battle at this point.  Gabriele says they delivered a Higher Love to all of us. She calls them inspiring. Julianne says, “You are making waves…what you are doing is global inclusion.” Howie calls the “beautiful.” Howie jokes about Simon’s glasses. Simon calls the performance in a way higher league than anything else they’ve done. “You really deserve a place in the final.” OK then. I expected Simon to bus them.

Ansley Burns  – Singer whom Simon made sing twice–twice) (Quarterfinal Wildcard) – She’s the only Wildcard to survive the Quarterfinals. In her video package, Ansley runs through how Simon kept asking her to sing twice. This week, she’s going to pick her OWN song (apparently friends and family picked the others. Hm). She loves Carrie Underwood, and sings “Cry Pretty.” Eh. Song picks aren’t going to fix Ansley in the short run. She needs time to develop vocally and emotionally. She’s imitating Carrie, all the way down to the way she moves on stage. Julianne is sure America love Ansley Burns. “You are a ray of sunshine,” she says. “America wants to root for you. Maybe the song overpowered her, she says. Sean compares her to Karen Carpenter. UHM NO. Gabrielle loves Ansley. “You are America’s underdog.” Howie thinks the song was too big for her. She needs her own TV show, he says. Simon did not like the staging. But he likes that he’s she’s gutsy and adorable. He asks America to vote based on every performance. Hm. That would mean sending her home…
